NatHERS for Existing Homes is a nationally consistent assessment framework that evaluates the energy performance of already-built dwellings. The Technical Note outlines the data required to calculate both the thermal performance and Whole of Home energy performance of a home. Accredited assessors use NatHERS software tools to assess the entire dwelling, providing photographic evidence and supporting documentation for auditing and quality assurance purposes. After the assessment, the household receives a Home Energy Rating Certificate that includes a NatHERS Star Rating out of 10, a Whole of Home Energy Rating out of 100, a breakdown of appliance energy use, estimated annual energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, and information on the home's renewable energy profile where applicable.
