In 2022 the National Construction Code added the new Whole of Home rating, which allows for a more holistic assessment that captures the appliances within the home. Five key aspects are included in a Whole of Home assessment: heating and cooling, hot water, lighting, spas and pools, and solar PV systems; together these give a complete picture of a home's overall energy use. The rating scale ranges from 0 to 100, where 100 is a net zero energy value home. The minimum Whole of Home rating requirement is 60 for class 1 and 50 for class 2 under the National Construction Code.
At CLIMAVISION Energy Consulting, we provide Whole of Home assessments for new homes before construction begins, ensuring your design meets the National Construction Code requirements from the start. Our accredited NatHERS assessors will review your house plans and model your home's full energy performance, including heating, cooling, hot water, lighting and solar systems, using NatHERS-approved software. Just like the EER, your Whole of Home certificate is a required document for your Development Application (DA), and we make sure you have it ready, so your project moves forward without delays.
If you are planning to build a new home, a Whole of Home Assessment is one of the most important steps to ensure your home is energy efficient, comfortable and compliant from day one. By capturing more of the energy a home uses, the rating better informs homeowners and builders to make energy efficient choices in building and selecting appliances. Contact CLIMAVISION Energy Consulting today to get your free non-binding quote and take the first step towards a smarter, more energy efficient home.
