BASIX Certificate

 A BASIX Certificate (Building Sustainability Index) is a mandatory requirement in New South Wales (NSW) for most residential building projects, and is part of the NSW Government's initiative to ensure homes are designed and built to be energy and water-efficient, reducing their environmental impact. It demonstrates compliance with sustainability targets across three key areas: energy efficiency, water efficiency, and thermal comfort. BASIX applies to all new residential developments, as well as renovations costing more than $50,000 and swimming pools and spas of 40,000 litres or more. Since 1 October 2023, the thermal comfort standard has been set at a minimum of 7 NatHERS stars, and your BASIX certificate must be submitted with every Development Application (DA) or Complying Development Certificate (CDC) in NSW.
